I headed out bright and early this morning to buy new tires in preparation for my drive to Austin tomorrow. But they didn't have the tires I want in stock. So I have to go back tomorrow and get them installed. Doesn't it just irk you when you finally pull it together to do something you've been meaning to do for ages, and you get thwarted? I actually had to take time off from writing, put on real clothes, make myself presentable, get Rob to move his car (behind mine in the driveway), and drive over there in the rain. And I'll have to do it all tomorrow.
I managed to get some writing done as well as a nice walk and some. Then my computer froze up and I spent some time unfreezing it and trying to figure out how I was going to get to Garland tonight to hear a presentation from fellow author Jane Graves at the library there. We finally decided the train was the only way to go.
So we took the train to the West End and had dinner, then took a different train all the way to downtown Garland, which was only a couple of blocks from the library. Worked like a charm on the way there. The way back involved quite a bit of waiting for the right train to come along, though, so it was rather a long ride home. But we like riding trains, so it's okay.
I am behinder and behinder, though, on my stuff. Writing, line edits, Rita books. Tomorrow and Thursday will be messed up because of my trip to Austin. Ah, well. Life is like that.
