Dragging

I'm going to have to learn some restraint, because I was definitely hung over this morning. It hardly seems fair, since I wasn't drunk. But red wine does that to me. So I slept late and took a long shower, and breakfast at Norma's (along with about a gallon of coffee) put me right.

I posted a new column for www.romancingtheblog.com. It will run tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 26). Rob says it's a little depressing, but I thought it was kind of funny. I also entered an essay contest. It's not the sort of thing I normally do, and I'm not sure I'm very good at it. But the prize is you get to be in a commercial, so there's a trip to Hollywood and a make-over and a premiere party involved. It sounded fun.

I read some, napped some, watched the last stage of the Tour of California (no big surprise, Levi won). Then I decided to get very ambitious and cook. We had some chicken breasts, so I made chicken breasts with a champagne sauce. This was my first attempt at a serious sauce, and it turned out pretty good. I made up some herbed rice and fresh sauteed spinach to go with it. I also dirtied every pot, pan and dish in the house. Took forever to clean up. That's the problem with cooking.

I started writing a new book today. I didn't mean to, but I've been mulling over an idea for a YA paranormal, and the first line came to me today. I wanted to get it down, and I ended up writing 12 pages. I don't know where it's going, but it's a nice change of pace for me.

Hope your weekend was fun, and I'll see you again soon,

Kara

Thanks for visiting my blog!
I used to cook interesting dinners before I moved aboard our sailboat.
Now it's more how edible CAN I make this chili casserole. LOL

Dirty dishes...

Heh. That's what kids are for!

Excited about your YA! I write YA, usually with a paranormal/supernatural bent. It's SO much fun to write for young people.

I have great respect for romance writers after reading the various guidelines on the Harlequin site.

Thought I'd give it a try, but, yikes! It scared the heck out of me, so hats off to you!

Orion--
Well, I've been a terrible cook my whole life. When I took care of my widowed father for a few months, the poor man went from my mother's cooking (wonderful) to mine (wretched). He never complained, bless his heart, but I felt sorry for him.

Michelle--
I never look at guidelines anymore. they're really not that scary--you don't have to stick to them that closely. But I'm excited about trying YA because I actually love reading them, and it seems to me there's such a wide variety of styles.
