Wow, I didn't stop running all day long.
First it was up early to attend the DARA meeting. Lorraine Heath, our speaker, talked about how the money end of romance writing works. After that, I attended another meeting--a committee that is putting together DARA's 20th anniversary party in August. (I'm afraid I didn't contribute much--just nodded and said, "That's a great idea!" a lot.)
After that, Rob and I grabbed a quick lunch at Taco Bell. Then we went to Micro Center and bought some computer stuff we needed. Next, we stopped at the fancy Tom Thumb on Northwest Highway to buy wine and the groceries I needed to fix the appetizer for a party tonight. Unfortunately, I can't set foot in that Tom Thumb without buying lots of stuff. So five ingredients ended up costing me $75.
Once back home, I updated my website, then turned on the TV to watch bike racing. (No big changes in the overall standings but it was an exciting stage--a breakaway almost succeeded.)
I finished cooking my appetizer--it was a quiche-like thing, but with a phyllo-like crust. Turkey bacon and onion. I had a hard time getting the middle to cook without burning the edges, and then it all stuck to the pan. But when all was said and done (and the burned parts discarded) it was pretty good.
The Winnetka Winos were meeting just down the street, so we brought our wine and our quichey bars and had a very pleasant evening socializing with our neighbors and tasting wine and stuffing our faces. Met some new neighbors, too. Strangely, one of the new people brought the exact same dish I brought two months ago--cherry tomatoes stuffed with bacon and onions. Spooky.
Thanks for stopping by,
Kara
