Here's a barn owl picture for you. That's one of the fuzzy babies in the foreground, and a snoozing mama bird in the background.
Today a Carolina wren visited my feeder. I've only seen this bird once before, when it landed on my picnic table about two feet from me. It stayed for a micro-second, but long enough for me to I.D. it. That was last year. Today I got a very good look at it. These birds are so darling and have so much character, and a very loud voice. There are two of them--I saw them in the bushes. Dare I hope there's a nest nearby? They next in odd places. At the Dallas Audubon Society website someone took a picture of one nesting in an old bucket on his back porch.
Rob went to Montreal today for a meeting, so it's just me. I went to the grocery store and bought food that I like (but maybe Rob doesn't) so I can enjoy it without guilt. I'm planning to cook two new veggie dishes. One of them is a stuffed leek and cheese pastry; the other is a seasoned fried zucchini.
I did a little writing today but I don't know how much. I'll add it to tomorrow's page count, I guess, 'cause I'm too lazy to transfer it from my baby computer to the big one. I'm a little bit stuck because I need to do some research on boats. (What can go wrong with them and how to fix them). And deep-sea fishing, which I know zero about.
I have to confess I didn't get much of anything else done today. We had a storm and a power failure earlier, so for a while I just dozed and waited for the lights to come back on. Finally I went to the store hoping the problem would be solved when I got back, but it wasn't. Finally came on about an hour later. (Yay for not losing all my frozen food.)
Oh ... Happy Mother's Day! It's not something I think about much, since I'm not a mother and my own mother is gone. I hope Rob remembered to call his mother. In the hurry to get him packed and to the airport, I didn't even think about it. Yeesh.
Thanks for visiting,
Kara
