Pre-writing and Re-writing

No new pages today, but that's not because I wasn't working. I'm still trying to figure out what this book is about (we'll call it TFM for now, because I don't like the title and it will definitely change). Some scenes I knew had to be rewritten. I had to write in a dog. And once he was there, I had to make sure he was in every scene he was supposed to be in. It's hard, sometimes, keeping track of a pet or a baby (in fiction--I've never lost a baby in real life!).

But I'm also slowly working my way through this Plot and Structure book and doing the exercises. Today I did a lengthy character sketch of my villain, trying to keep some things in mind like, he's the hero of his own story, and he can't be two-dimensional cardboard Snidely Whiplash, and he should be both evil and sympathetic. So I had to give him some backstory that adequately motivates his evil-ness.

Later I went to yoga where we worked on our tailbones. Seriously. It was quite interesting and not a class I'll soon forget.

Thanks for visiting,
Kara
