Money, money, everywhere

Except in my bank accounts where it belongs!

This was a crazy day. First, Rob and I went for our annual check-ups. We make back-to-back appointments so we can ride together and give each other moral support. It seems we're both at least as healthy as we were last year! And I was a couple of pounds lighter (which shocked the heck out of me) and a quarter inch shorter (but the doc had me down last year as 5'3-1/4" and I've never been over 5'3 in my life, so I don't really think I'm shrinking).

When my appointment was over, I ran down to the deli and bought us cream cheese bagels, then returned to the waiting room and snarfed mine while Rob got poked and prodded.

When all that was over, with our wallets considerably lighter, we went to Taco Bell and ate some more. Then Rob went on to the train and I drove to critique group. So far so good with this story; 20 pages into it and people are still liking it! Yay! Today we celebrated that Kay has signed with an agent. What a huge milestone.

I stopped on the way home to return a wireless modem that didn't work to the computer store, so I got a little money back. Then I had to balance my checkbooks. Hadn't done it in three months so it was quite a chore. Paid bills, paid quarterly taxes (eek!) and figured out how I'm going to fund my IRAs before the deadline. We're down to the wire here!

All that bookkeeping really gave me a headache. Now I'm cleaning my office (shoveling out more like it). Tomorrow is going to be another crazy day--visits to two banks, lunch with a friend, pick up my camera from another friend, pick up my taxes, go to the post office to mail taxes. When I have days like this I wonder how I would manage if I had a *real* job. (I used to. I remember being tired a lot.)

Next year I am not waiting until the last minute!

Kara
