Why affirmations don't work

Actually, affirmations can work great. But it's all in the technique.

A lot of people create wonderful affirmations, then repeat them by rote, on automatic pilot, while they're doing other things.

Here's the thing: The words aren't magic. The magic comes from how the words make you feel. Feelings and emotions are the power behind the Law of Attraction.

So if you like the whole idea of affirmations, by all means have fun creating good ones, and use them. But forget about saying them a hundred times a day, or writing them a hundred times. (I just get bored--and writer's cramp--when I try this technique, and boredom isn't an emotion I want to encourage.)

Instead, say them five times a day. But really focus when you say them. Say them like you really mean them. And--this is the important part--try to feel the way you would feel if those affirmations were true. Affirmations used in this manner are a lot more fun--and a lot more effective.

Affirmatively,
Kara
