I made it to my second critique group. We are getting the hang of it, I think. I am encouraged that I have not been skewered too badly yet. I brought half a synopsis on my YA paranormal to read. (Best I could do, given the deadline.) It's a challenge, though, critiqueing with your very best friends. At one point years ago we stopped critiquing because the process had ceased to be productive, but now we're trying again, going at it in a slightly different way.
Later I walked to the post office to mail off my manuscript on CD. I think it's a bit strange they're still requiring authors to do that, since it's so easy to e-mail the manuscript as an attachment. But at least they aren't making me e-mail the entire hard-copy manuscript to Canada anymore. That's an expensive proposition.
I talked to my sister and niece in Iowa today. I don't talk to them very often so it was a treat. My niece Pam is so cute. She's at that in-between age--out of high school but not sure what to do with the rest of her life. She tried living in an apartment and working, she's tried going to school part time, now she's back living at home and unemployed. But I feel certain she'll get it together soon. She's a very energetic and determined girl. (Smart and pretty, too.)
Now I'm just catching up on stuff I ignored while traveling and finishing my book. The house is a pit, the yard a jungle, my e-mail inbox overflowing. Didn't really make much progress today because I'm so mentally exhausted I am having trouble focusing! Channel surfing seems more my speed!
Thanks for visiting,
Kara
